FIELD: defectoscopy.
SUBSTANCE: using to detect various defects in pipelines and other objects by method of directed acoustic waves. Summary of the Invention is in that in flaw detection, two types of probing acoustic waves are consistently used: longitudinal, extending along circumference of pipeline, and transverse, propagating along generatrix of pipeline, while acoustic device provides dry point acoustic contact with pipeline surface of high quality and generation of two types of ultrasonic waves propagating along generatrix and circumference of pipeline.
EFFECT: providing possibility of examining part of pipeline located under anchorage point of annular grid by means of more compact apparatus, as well as ensuring high-quality acoustic contact of piezoelectric transducers with pipeline wall, with possibility of fast transducers moving along pipeline using positioning device.
