FIELD: biotechnology; microbiology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of microbiology and biotechnology, concerns the biodegradation of toxic organic compounds by the use of microorganisms. Method involves biodegradation of dehydroabietic acid accumulated in the waste water of the pulp and paper industry of a toxic tricyclic diterpenoid, with the use of actinobacterial cells Rhodococcus rhodochrous IEGM 107. Complete biodegradation of 500 to 750 mg/l of dehydroabietic acid is achieved within 7–11 days under conditions of cultivation of R. rhodochrous IEGM 107 in the presence of 0.1 vol% n-hexadecane. Under these conditions, biodegradation is almost complete. Culture of R. rhodochrous IEGM 107 is stored in the Regional Profiled Collection of Alkanotrophic Microorganisms (IEGM Collection).

EFFECT: method of biodegradation of toxic organic compounds by means of microorganisms is proposed.
