FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plasma accelerators with closed electron drift and an extended acceleration zone used as stationary plasma engines in structure of electric propulsion systems. Accelerator comprises discharge chamber with outer and inner annular walls forming accelerating channel. In cavity of accelerator channel, anode and gas distributor are installed, which are made in form of single block of anode-gas distributor. Cathode is placed behind cutoff of exit section of the accelerating channel. Magnetic system includes sources of magnetomotive force in form of electromagnetic coils of magnetization. Outer and inner magnetic poles form annular pole gap in exit section of the accelerating channel. Elements of magnetic system are connected together by magnet core. Annular metallic magnetic shield covers accelerating channel and forms the walls of discharge chamber. On end parts of magnetic shield are installed outer and inner circular dielectric elements are installed, surfaces of which form exit section of the accelerating channel. Each dielectric element contains conjugate between cylindrical and expanding parts. Latter form expanding exit portion of the accelerating channel, which is located in the direction of ion acceleration outside the segments of straight lines connecting outer edges of magnetic poles. Cylindrical sections form part of the accelerating channel, located in region of pole gap.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing efficiency of accelerating ion flux (traction efficiency) and increasing the resource of accelerator due to optimization of magnetic field topology, reduce probability of deposition of loose dielectric film on the anode and magnetic shield.
