FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: according to the invention, charger (100) comprises: sensor (10) that is configured to measure the differential current (DELTA_I) as a difference between the first current (I_POS) through first battery section (210) of battery (200) and the second current (I_NEG) through second battery cell (220) of battery (200) and which is configured to provide a signal (ΔI_meas) of the current difference based on the measured differential current (DELTA_I); compensator (20) that is configured to calculate the first setpoint (I_SP_POS) of the current used for first battery section (210) and the second current setting (I_SP_NEG) for second battery section (220), on the basis of the provided signal (DELTA_I) of the current difference and the set value (I_SP) of the battery current; and controller (30) that is configured to control the charging and / or discharging of first battery section (210) based on the first current setting (I_SP_POS) and second battery section (220) based on the second current setting (I_SP_NEG).
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of balancing the currents of the battery areas, exclude rapid imbalance of individual battery areas, improve performance.
