FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, namely to processing of metallic powders to improve their thermochemical properties. It can be used to increase the reactivity of aluminum powders during combustion, sintering, powder metallurgy, 3D printing, as well as to activate the processes of synthesis of intermetallics, combustion processes of solid fuels and pyrotechnic compounds, interaction with water and hydrogen production. Method for modifying micro- and nanopowders of aluminum includes irradiating a powder sample with high-energy radiation, which provides the accumulation of a positive charge of the inner part of the aluminum particle. High-energy radiation is used for microwave radiation, which irradiates samples in the air atmosphere with pulses of 25 ns duration, a frequency of 2.8 GHz, and a power density of 8 kW/cm2, the repetition frequency of 25 Hz for at least 10 minutes.
EFFECT: increase of stored energy in powders.
