FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a solution for preparing polymerisation catalysts or for use as bases in organic synthesis. Solution contains compounds of mixed alkoxides of alkaline earth metals M(OCH2R6)2-a-b(OR7)a with a monoether residue of glycol-b with 2-4 carbon atoms in a mixture with an aluminium compound Al(OCH2R6)3-c-d(OR7)c with a monoether residue of glycol-d with 2-4 carbon atoms and free alcohol in aprotic solvents. M is an alkaline earth metal selected from magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), barium (Ba), strontium (Sr); OCH2R6 is an alkoxide residue consisting of at least 3 and not more than 40 carbon atoms having a branch at position 2 with respect to the functional group with the O atom, therefore, R6 = -CHR10R11, where R10, R11 = independently of each other, alkyl residues having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms; R7 is an alkyl residue having 2 to 15 C atoms, which is either linear or has a branch in position ≥3 (with respect to the functional group with the O atom); n = an integer between 1 and 4; a+b≤2, c+d≤3, a and c, can assume any values from 0.01 to 0.8, and b and d can assume any values from 0.1 to 1.99. Concentration of the alkaline earth metal is preferably in the range of 0.4 to 1.6 mmol/g, and viscosity at room temperature is ≤300 cP. Method for preparing a solution is also provided.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain low-viscous concentrated, id est, having ≥ 0_5, magnesium alcoholate solutions in aprotic solvents having a low content of contaminants that can be used to prepare polymerisation catalysts or for use as bases in organic synthesis.
