FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, in particular to overvoltage protection circuits of switching devices, accumulation and useful use of this energy for powering other electrical equipment. Invention can be used, for example, in converter equipment. Method of protection (against) and useful use of the energy of switching overvoltages in the operation of electrical equipment, that arise when the circuit is opened between the transformer and the active-inductive load, lies in the fact that the energy of switching overvoltages is stored and converted by a pulsed transformer power supply, connected to the protected circuits, consisting of a diode rectifier or a bridge, a capacitor connected to the output of the diode rectifier or the bridge, a pulse transformer connected to the capacitor, an electronic key, an electronic key control circuit, an output rectifier connected to the transformer and intended to supply electricity to other electrical equipment.
EFFECT: control circuit of the pulsed power supply provides control over the duration of the discharge of the capacitor, depending on the duration of the switching overvoltages.
