SUBSTANCE: invention relates to infant formulas and follow-on formulas containing optimised amino acid profiles. Infant formula includes a protein composition containing 3.2-5.0 g of threonine per 100 g protein, 0.7-1.1 g of tryptophan per 100 g protein. Ratio of tryptophan to the sum of all neutral amino acids isoleucine, leucine, valine, phenylalanine, tyrosine and methionine in the protein composition is in the range of 0.030 to 0.025. Resulting infant formula is designed to support and promote balanced growth or development of an infant and / or to prevent or reduce the risk of unbalanced growth or development of an infant.
EFFECT: invention helps to prevent or reduce the risk of obesity in older age.
