DEVICE FOR FORMATION OF IMAGES (OPTIONS) Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G02B27/01

Abstract RU 2659577 C1

FIELD: image forming devices.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of image formation. Device comprises a display, a first polarizer, a first phase plate, a first optical element, a second phase plate and a second optical element. First phase plate is located after the first polarizer and is configured to change the first state of linear polarization of light to the first circular polarization state. First optical element has a layer of cholesteric liquid crystals whose molecules are oriented so as to transmit light with the first state of circular polarization. Second phase plate is disposed after the first optical element and is configured to change the first circular light polarization state to a second linear polarization state. On the second optical element, a second polarizer based on the wire mesh is formed to reflect light incident on it with a second state of linear polarization, in the direction of the first optical element through the second phase plate, thereby changing the second state of linear polarization of light to the second state of circular polarization. Orientation of the molecules of the cholesteric liquid crystals is such that the light with the second state of circular polarization is reflected back to the second optical element through the second phase plate, changing the second state of circular polarization to the first state of linear polarization. Wire mesh polarizer provides light transmission with the first state of linear polarization in the direction of the user's eye.

EFFECT: invention provides improved image quality, reduced weight and size.
