SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encoding/decoding images. Method for determining the motion vector for the current unit comprises the following: decoding the motion vector difference information for the current unit and the motion vector predictor information for the current unit; generation of the group of predictors-candidates of the motion vector; changing the group of predictors-candidates of the motion vector based on the values of the motion vector predictors in the mentioned group of predictors-candidates of the motion vector and the number of predictors-candidates of the motion vector in the mentioned group of motion vector predictors-candidates; determining the motion vector predictor for the current unit based on the group of predictors of the motion vector and on the mentioned information on the motion vector predictor; and determining the motion vector for the current unit based on the motion vector predictor and the motion vector difference information.
EFFECT: technical result is the increased compression ratio during the encoding/decoding of images.
