SUBSTANCE: invention relates to data transmission and intended for encoding/decoding motion vector. Method of motion vector encoding includes stages, at which selecting first mode as information coding mode on current unit motion vector predictor, where information is encoded, indicating motion vector predictor from one motion vector predictor, or second mode, where information is encoded, indicating generation of motion vector predictor based on units or pixels, included in previously encoded region, adjacent to current unit; determining current unit motion vector predictor in accordance with selected mode and encoding information on current unit motion vector predictor; and encoding difference vector between current unit motion vector and current unit motion vector predictor.
EFFECT: technical result is increasing image decoding rate using prediction information in current unit.
