FIELD: veterinary.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary and diagnostic infectious diseases, namely to brucellosis. Method for producing R-brucellosis serum on rabbits is proposed. It includes a single subcutaneous injection of a mixture of antigen (100 million CFU/ml of inactivated culture of B. abortus strain 16/4) with adjuvant MONTANIDE™ ISA 61 VG, trial blood taking at 16–20 days and 21 to 35 days after hyperimmunization – three to four times blood taking from each rabbit, at the rate of 16–20 ml of blood per 1 kg of live weight or total bleeding (industrial exsanguination). After the blood taking, the blood container is placed in a thermostat at 37 °C for 3–4 hours for the separation of serum, then placed in a refrigerator at 2–8 °C for two days to settle the serum. Serum from each animal is drained into sterile vessels, and sodium merthiolate is added. Serum sample is then tested for sterility, activity and specificity. It should be sterile and have a titer: in the test tube RA (agglutination reaction) – 1:640–1:1,280, in lamellar RA – 1:30–1:60, respectively. Serum is preserved and packaged.
EFFECT: reduction in the labor intensity of the process, epidemic safety and an increase in the amount of serum obtained by 2–3 times.
