FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. Method for treating titanium-containing feedstock involves the production of titanium tetrachloride using high-titanium-content feedstock and coke. Method then includes chlorination of a solid recovered material containing unreacted titanium feedstock and which is a by-product in the production of titanium tetrachloride, and high-titanium-content feedstock together in the absence of coke for selective chlorination of impurity metals. Chlorides of impurity metals are separated.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the efficiency of using titanium-containing feedstock in such a way that valuable materials such as unreacted titanium-containing feedstock, carbon feedstock and chlorine can be extracted from solid recovered material formed during chlorination of titanium-containing feedstock.
