METHOD FOR OPERATION OF NICKEL-HYDROGEN ACCUMULATOR BATTERY INCLUDED INTO ARTIFICAL EARTH SATELLITE Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC H01M10/34 H01M10/44

Abstract RU 2395871 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used to operate nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries preferably in autonomous power supply systems of artificial Earth satellites (AES). According to invention, method for operation of nickel-hydrogen accumulator battery in composition of AES consists in performance of charging, discharging, storage in charged condition, periodical recharging by pulse current with limitation of charging pulse duration and duration of subsequent pause provided that the average charging current in value is higher than current of accumulator self-dicharge, moreover, additionally temperatrue is monitored in accumulator battery, duration of charging pulse is limited as level of accumulator battery temperature achives maximum permissible value, and duration of subsequent pause - as level of accumulator battery temperature reaches working range. Besides reduction in current duration of charging pulse is monitored, and as charging pulse current duration stops going down, recharging with pulse current is terminated.

EFFECT: improved capacitance resource characteristics and reliability of nickel-hydrogen accumulator battery operation.
