FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method ability is to change the ratio of resolving power by mass and sensitivity, respectively, to the ratio of the kinetic energies of the ion packets in the direction of drift and in the direction of their ejection pulse and a multiple of a whole number of turns of the ion trajectories. An adjustable parameter that affects the ratio of the resolving power by mass and sensitivity is a magnitude of electrical voltage that determines energy of the continuous ion beam entering the pulsed orthogonal ion source and energy of the ion packet drift in the mass spectrometer in the direction of the continuous ion beam.

EFFECT: providing the ability to smoothly control the ratio of the resolving power by mass and sensitivity in a multi-reflective time-of-flight mass spectrometer without narrowing the analyzed mass range.
