FIELD: analytical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of analytical instrumentation, namely to mass spectrometry, time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The device of a grid-free ion gate is designed to convert a continuous ion beam into a sequence of packets of charged particles entering the analyzer with a given frequency and duration, and is isolated conductive flat parallel solid diaphragms with coaxial holes in the center of the same diameter, while the diameter of the holes is no less than 0.5 mm and no more than 2 mm, the thickness of the diaphragms is 0.2 mm and the distance between them is 0.2 mm. The first diaphragm is under controlled voltages from an independent power source, and the second diaphragm is electrically connected to an independent switching power source with an adjustable voltage duration, frequency and amplitude.
EFFECT: increase in the transmission of ion current, simplification of the design and manufacturing technology.
