FIELD: water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for filtration separation of an aqueous emulsion, in particular, to methods for water purification from petrol, oils and oil products, fats (vegetable and animal origin), etc. organic substances. It can be used in oil production, chemical, petrochemical, food, pharmaceutical, machine-building and other industries, as well as in wastewater treatment systems. In the proposed method for coalescence of water-insoluble liquids by filtering an aqueous emulsion through a layer of granules, a liquid network consisting of a dispersed phase of the emulsion and/or a liquid mutually soluble with the dispersed phase is used as a coalescent catcher, the liquid network is formed in the gaps between the granules, the entire surface or most of the surface of which is non-wettable for the dispersed phase of the emulsion and the liquid from which the liquid network is formed, and the emulsion passes through the filter layer of granules through channels formed by granules and a liquid network. The solution eliminates clogging of the filter due to contamination of the filter layer granules with heavy fractions of the dispersed phase, since the surface of the granules is (fully or partially) non-wettable for the dispersed phase. The filaments of the liquid network located between the granules reduce the size of the channels and divide the channels into smaller ones, and a decrease in the cross-section of the channels leads to an increase in the speed of the emulsion.
EFFECT: increase in the reliability and efficiency of the coalescence process of water-insoluble liquids by filtering an aqueous emulsion through a layer of granules.
