SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to embodiments of an energy absorbing device for the front of a vehicle having a frame rail and a bumper containing a deflector and a catcher. V-shaped deflector is attached to the vehicle's buffer, a rear section of the deflector has a distal end disposed near the frame rail. In a collision, the distal end of the rear section engages the catcher.
EFFECT: provides increased safety by reducing the amount of passage of obstacles in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
