FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, radiation diagnostics, ophthalmology, plastic and maxillofacial surgery, can be used to assess the position of eyeballs in patients with injuries of the middle zone of the face. Conduct a multispiral computed tomography (MCT) in the position of the patient lying on the back with the positioning of his gaze directly and centrally on the color label located on the computer tomograph gantry. Resulting image is aligned in the sagittal plane along the optic nerve in the axial plane. Draw the border of the eyeball in the sagittal plane with the Ellipse tool in the soft tissue mode. Draw a line from the bony landmark – the lower surface of the small wing of the sphenoid bone – to the posterior pole of the eyeball. Carry a perpendicular to the line along the posterior pole of the eyeball. Measure the height of the upper and lower parts of the perpendicular, where the height of its upper part is the distance from the posterior pole of the eyeball to the upper boundary of the orbit, and the height of the lower part of the perpendicular – from the posterior pole of the eyeball to the lower boundary of the orbit. Compare the results obtained for the right and left eyeballs, assessing their position taking into account the position of the posterior pole of the eyeball.
EFFECT: method provides accurate assessment of position of the eyeballs in patients with traumas of orbit, even with a minimal displacement of the eyeball.
