FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to electric power industry, namely to bird-protective rod insulators for overhead transmission lines and contact network of electrified railways. Insulator consists of insulating rod (1), two end caps (2, 3) fixed on insulating rod (1), and protective silicone shell (4). At least one rib of organosilicon shell of insulating rod is located on one of end-points at distance from 0 to 100 mm from edge of shell (4) and has disk, conical and/or oval shape with diameter larger than diameter of other ribs of silicone shell (4) located between them, and diameter of said ribs is selected from range of 145÷400 mm. Angle of inclination of all ribs of organosilicon shell (4) to plane perpendicular to longitudinal axis of insulating rod (1) is selected from range 0÷45 degrees. Insulating rod (1) can be made fiberglass or basalt plastic.
EFFECT: high efficiency of protecting birds from electric shock and protection from contamination of lines with poultry vital activity.
