FIELD: astronautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the control of the motion of spacecrafts (SC) and can be used when docking an active SC with a passive SC. Method consists in observing optical signals reflected from flat mirror elements on the surface of a spherical shell mounted on a passive SC at maximum distance from its center of gravity. Mirror elements are made with the same area and are equidistant from each other. Angular rates are controlled until the appearance of a continuous optical signal, continuous in time and constant in amplitude, reflected from the mirror elements.
EFFECT: reducing weight-and-size characteristics of reflecting elements installed on the passive SC.
