FIELD: pharmacology.
SUBSTANCE: oral care composition contains an orally acceptable aqueous carrier and an antimicrobial component comprising a mixture of zinc (II) ascorbyl phosphate, zinc (II) ascorbyl phosphate, ascorbyl phosphate hydroxochloride (II). A method for treatment or prevention of an oral cavity disease or disorder in an individual, human or animal, and an oral care kit using such a composition and further application of a mixture of zinc (II) ascorbyl phosphate, zinc (II) ascorbyl phosphate, ascorbyl phosphate hydroxyl zinc (II) as an antimicrobial component in an oral care composition, are proposed as well.
EFFECT: application of the aforementioned zinc ascorbyl phosphate mixture, which has a much higher solubility and antimicrobial activity than the antimicrobial components of the prior art, allows application of a reduced amount of zinc in oral care compositions.
