SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for producing neutrons using high-energy particles and can be used in the manufacture of compact sources of neutron radiation. Neutron source device comprises a neutron source placed in a sealed container, in which the neutron source is made in the form of a structure with a multilayer structure including insulating layers made of a material having light nuclei tightly contacting along the edge zones of the layers to form a sealed connection, and an exciting particle α-emitting layer placed between the said insulating layers and made of α-active material mixed with a material having light nuclei responsive to reaction α->n. Fast neutron emitting layer is placed between these insulating layers and is made of αactive material mixed with a material having light nuclei responsive to reaction α->n.

EFFECT: obtaining a long-term uniform neutron flux with a given intensity.
