FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to control welding beads between two thermoplastic parts welded by ultrasound, in particular on lines for assembling plastic parts of vehicles. Joined parts of a controlled sample are separated by stretching until their connection is broken in the weld joint area. Mask with an opening is placed on one of the parts so that the opening surrounds the joint rupture area. Photographs are taken in a controlled light environment. Resulting image is digitally processed to determine the bonding surface of the weld joint, which is a deformed surface. Ratio between the bonding surface of weld joint and the inner surface of the mask is calculated. Obtained calculation results of calculations are compared with the minimum permissible bonding surface, determined from the results of mechanical tests of welded joints of the parts for tension.
EFFECT: method provides accurate and objective control of welds on a conveyor.
