SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical-pharmaceutical industry, in particular to a method for the preparation of a substance having antibacterial and antifungal activity. Method of obtaining a substance having antibacterial and antifungal activity, in which the leaves of the bearberry are extracted with 70 % ethyl alcohol, first performing two extractions at room temperature for 24 hours, and then when heated in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes; the combined recovery is evaporated under vacuum, mixed with silica gel in a ratio of the initial mass of the raw material and the sorbent 3:1, and dried in air; the dried powder is applied to a layer of silica gel, formed as a slurry in chloroform, and subjected to chromatographic separation using mixtures of chloroform and ethyl alcohol in a gradient mode, followed by isolation from fractions obtained by elution with a solvent mixture of chloroform-ethyl alcohol 95 % (93:7), ethyl ester of n-digallic acid – a substance with antibacterial and antifungal activity.

EFFECT: above described method makes it possible to obtain a substance with a higher antibacterial and antifungal activity, to exclude the use of methyl alcohol.
