FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, namely to the determination of arbutin in medicinal plant materials and/or in medicinal plant preparations, dietary supplements. The method of determining arbutin in bearberry leaves is characterized by the use of high-performance thin-layer chromatography — densitometry, sample preparation, where it is extracted with 70% ethanol in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cooled, filtered, the extraction is repeated twice for 10 minutes, then the filtrate is placed on a preparative column and eluted with ethanol 70%, further separated on a chromatographic plate with a layer of silica gel with a fluorescent indicator using a mobile phase consisting of chloroform, methanol, glacial acetic acid in a ratio of 11:3.5:1 and then the plate is treated with a composition consisting of concentrated sulfuric acid and ethanol 96% in a ratio of 2:8, dried, scanned on a spectrodensitometer at a wavelength of 285 nm.
EFFECT: development of a method for determining arbutin, characterized by selectivity, sensitivity and accuracy.
