FIELD: printing industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a security element intended for insertion into an article, particularly a document. Security element comprises: a holographic layer for forming a volume hologram and a variable opacity non-holographic structure. Variable opacity structure is formed by having: one or more cutouts and/or at least partially translucent areas, as well as one or more at least partially opaque areas and/or oriented platelet pigments. Variable opacity structure is at least partially superimposed on the hologram in the region of the security element observed in transmitted light.
EFFECT: improved document security with relatively low manufacturing costs.
