SUBSTANCE: invention relates to driver device (60) for driving load (12), in particular a LED unit comprising one or more LEDs, said driver device comprising input terminals (28, 30) for receiving input voltage (V12) from external power supply (16), output terminals for providing output voltage to load (12) for driving load (12), converter unit (34) for converting input voltage (V12) to converted voltage (V14) and for providing converted voltage (V14) to internal connection elements (63, 64) of driver device (60), signal control device (62) for applying electrical signal (I) to at least one of connection elements (63, 64) and a detection circuit for detecting phase angle of input voltage (V12) by measuring a voltage drop of converted voltage (V14) caused by electrical signal (I).
EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the power factor and a reduction in losses.
