SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device (40, 50, 60) of excitation and corresponding method of excitation for load excitation (12) of LED unit (12) in particular which includes one or more LEDs, wherein mentioned device includes input supply unit (14) for receiving input voltage (V10) from external source (18) of supply and for provision of rectified voltage (V12) of supply, controlled resistor (48) for load current supply (IL) for load (12) power supply, frequency filter (42) connected with input supply unit (14) to supply voltage (V18) to load (12), wherein frequency filter (42) is connected in parallel to load (12) and is connected to controlled resistor (48) for supply of constant electric power to load (12). Device comprises modulator (52) connected in series with LED unit (12) for current modulation (IL) of excitation and for modulation of emitted light output.

EFFECT: simplification of modulation of light output.
