MOTION-COMPENSATED DOSE, RECEIVED BY TISSUE IN HIGH DOSE RATE BRAHITERAPY PROCEDURES Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61N5/10

Abstract RU 2665604 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely, to therapeutic dose verification devices during brachytherapy. In the method, the system for verifying the dose comprises a device capable of sensing the shape of a catheter or guidewire, at least one optical fiber, a source positioning unit, configured to receive optical signals from at least one optical fiber and interpreting such optical signals to provide information about the motion of the device capable of sensing the shape of a catheter or guidewire, wherein the information about such motion includes the shape and position of the device capable of sensing the shape of the catheter or guidewire, and the position of the therapeutic sources in the device capable of sensing the shape of the catheter or guidewire, at any time during treatment, a dose determination module, configured to create one or more time cells, totaling the overall treatment time, wherein, for each time cell, the dose determination module is configured to determine the dose, received by the target area undergoing treatment using information about the motion of the device capable of sensing the shape of the catheter or guidewire, wherein the dose determination module is further adapted to sum the doses received by the target area within each of one or more time cells to determine the total dose received by the target area. Further, the dose verification unit comprises a shape sensing system including a device capable of sensing the form of a catheter or guidewire having at least one optical fiber, a source positioning module, a dose determining unit configured to create one or more time cells, wherein, for each time cell, the dose determination module is configured to determine a dose, wherein the dose determination module is further adapted to sum the doses received by the target area, each of one or more time cells to determine the total dose obtained by the target area, and a display device. Above dose verification method comprises the steps of determining information about the motion and position of the therapeutic sources in the device capable of sensing the shape of a catheter or guidewire, at any time during treatment, create one or more time cells, calculate the doses for each of one or more time cells, sum the doses.

EFFECT: use of a group of inventions provides an extension of the arsenal of means for verifying the dose during brachytherapy.
