FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a connecting rod, the effective length of which can vary, and to an internal combustion engine including a variable-length connecting rod. Variable-length connecting rod includes a rod of the connecting rod, an eccentric element, a switching mechanism and a locking mechanism. Eccentric element is provided at the small-diameter end of the rod of the connecting rod. Eccentric element rotates in such a way that the effective length of the variable-length connecting rod varies. Switching mechanism includes a hydraulic piston connected to an eccentric element. Eccentric element reaches the first position when the switching mechanism is in the first state. Eccentric element reaches the second position when the switching mechanism is in the second state. Locking mechanism includes a locking member that abuts or engages with an eccentric member or hydraulic piston, so that the eccentric element is supported in an intermediate position between the first position and the second position.
EFFECT: technical result is a change in the degree of compression due to the change in the length of the connecting rod.
