FIELD: radio engineering and communications.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the radio communications. Method for modulating the amplitude and phase of high-frequency signals is that a high-frequency harmonic signal is applied to the modulator input, modulator is made of a four-terminal, two-pole control element connected to a low-frequency control signal source, wherein the bipolar control element is connected between the signal source and the input of the four-terminal network into a transverse circuit, to the output of the four-terminal network, a load with a complex resistance is connected, the conductivity of the signal source is chosen to be complex, the four-terminal network is selected as a complex one, the dependences of the complex elements of the classical transmission matrix of the four-terminal network on the frequency are selected from the condition for ensuring the specified phase dependencies ϕ1,2 and modules m1,2 of transfer functions from the frequency in the first and second states by means of appropriate mathematical expressions.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention consists in simultaneous provision of the specified values of the modules and phases of the transfer function in two states of a controlled element in a band of frequencies limited by two given frequencies.
