FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surface plastic deformation of the outer cylindrical surfaces of machine parts. Rotational motion is imparted to a workpiece with respect to its own longitudinal axis, and a longitudinal feed is imparted to a tool containing a deforming element and exerting pressure on a surface of the workpiece to be processed. In this case, the rotational motion about an axis passing through a plane, connecting the deforming element and perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece, is additionally imparted to the tool. Deforming element of the tool is made in the form of an indenter with two working profile radii.
EFFECT: as a result, the stress state in the deformation center of the part increases.
