FIELD: various technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of finishing and hardening treatment of external surfaces of solids of revolution and can be used for surface plastic deformation of external surfaces of solids of revolution in various branches of metal-working industry. Proposed method comprises imparting rotation to workpiece relative to its lengthwise axis while tool exerting pressure on workpiece surface is fed in lengthwise direction. Tool is used, the deforming element of which is made with working profile radii and a working surface in the form of a helical surface consisting of two or more turns located in a horizontal plane at an angle α to tool axis, at α<90°. Tool is installed with its axis at an angle β to workpiece axis in vertical plane, at β<90°.
EFFECT: higher quality of workpiece surface layer.
