SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for amplitude panning with fading of fronts. Determine for each audio output signal of four or more audio output signals a group of coupled speaker positions associated with said audio output signal, depending on the positions of the loudspeakers of each of the four or more audio outputs and depending on the position of the panning in such a way that said group of coupled loudspeaker positions comprising a loudspeaker position associated with said audio signal, and at least two additional speaker positions from the four or more positions of the loudspeakers, wherein at least one of said four or more speaker positions is not included in said group of coupled speaker positions. For each audio output signal of four or more audio output signals, the gain of the panning for said audio output signal depending on the position of the pan and depending on the positions of the group speakers from the connected positions of the loudspeakers.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of audio coding.
