SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the oil refining industry. Steaming and cooling of the petroleum coke in the reactor is at first carried out with water vapor, then with water to remove liquid coking products, lowering the temperature of the petroleum coke and the walls of the reactor with the withdrawal of steaming products and cooling the petcoke first to the distillation column, and then to the unit for trapping harmful emissions. Water supply is stopped by the signal from radiation level gauge. Draining the drainage water from the reactor is carried out in collection. Drainage water is then used in the initial stage of cooling the petcoke of next reactor. Sub-cooling of the petcoke in the reactor is carried out by circulating water of hydraulic discharge of the petcoke with its supply to reactor top. First, the water is drained during the washing stage of the petcoke in a special collection of drainage water. After cooling the top of the reactor to temperature of 60 °C, the water is discharged to the settler filter through the lower reactor hatch, provided with slide gate valve.

EFFECT: invention relates to the oil refining industry and can be used in the preparation of petroleum coke for hydraulic discharge from delayed coking reactors.
