SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, in particular to methods for adjusting fuel injection during operation or transition between modes in an internal combustion engine with a variable displacement volume. Method for the engine includes the steps of selectively removing one or more engine cylinders from operation in response to operating conditions. When the operation of the cylinders is resumed, the work of the cylinders subjected to the resumption of work with a split fuel injection is carried out. Delay of the ignition timing setting in the cylinders being renewed is carried out. Magnitude of the lag of the spark ignition is based on the temperature of the catalytic converter of the exhaust gases. Also variations of the method for the engine are disclosed.

EFFECT: increased driving qualities of mixed fuel usage, improved usage of EGR in operating cylinders during the previous withdrawal from work.
