SUBSTANCE: operation of the first set of cylinders (30) in the engine first row (14A) is effected to provide the resultant flow of air and exhaust gases from the first branched intake manifold (44A) into the first discharge manifold (48A). Operation of the second set of cylinders (30) in the engine second row (14B) is effected to provide the resultant flow of exhaust gases from the second exhaust manifold (48B) into the second branched discharge manifold (44B). Leaks at the second discharge manifold (48B) is detected in response to the fuel-to-air ratio defined at the second discharge manifold (48D) more depleted than the threshold level. The invention discloses the procedure possible options.
EFFECT: decreased temperature of recycled exhaust gasses.
