FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel control systems for internal combustion engines (ICE). Various systems and methods are described for controlling fuel injection in a variable displacement ICE. One of the methods for an internal combustion engine with a deactivatable cylinder comprises, before deactivating the cylinder in response to the operating conditions of the internal combustion engine, stopping fuel injection by the injection nozzle into the intake port and increasing the amount of fuel injected by the direct injection nozzle, and then cutting off fuel supply through the direct injection nozzle, when the intake port fuel puddle amount of the cylinder is completely consumed. Method further comprises, when resuming the operation of the cylinder, the inclusion of both the injection nozzle into the intake port and the direct injection nozzle, and injecting more fuel through the direct injection nozzle, while simultaneously injecting less fuel through the injection nozzle into the intake port.
EFFECT: reduction of exhaust emissions, improved combustion and ICE performance.
