FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and system for safely and remotely starting a vehicle. Method comprises activating the start of the vehicle engine. Event is detected. When an event is detected, method comprises determination of torque variations (Vc) over an analysis time interval based on control signals relating to engine torque request instructions from a module for controlling engine idling. Torque variations (Vc) are compared with a torque threshold value (Vs). Engine is switched off when said torque variation (Vc) is greater than or equal to the torque threshold value (Vs).

EFFECT: providing a method and a system for safe remote starting, which are reliable and easy to use.
