FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biotechnology, namely to the production of conjugated dienes by via enzymatic dehydration. Method for producing a conjugated diene comprises a step of enzymatically converting a compound of general formula CnH2nO into a compound of general formula CnH2n-2+H2O, where 3<n<7, by using linalool-dehydratase (EC 4.2.1.127). Said method can also be carried out using a microorganism producing linalool-dehydratase. Also provided are compositions for producing a compound of general formula CnH2n-2+H2O, comprising linalool-dehydratase or a microorganism producing it, and a compound of general formula CnH2nO, where 3<n<7.
EFFECT: inventions allow synthesizing volatile diene compounds, especially conjugated dienes, such as 1,3-dienes, from lower alkenols.
