FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for repair of welded seams of pipes with diameter from 508 to 2520 mm with wall thickness from 6 to 50 mm from austenitic steels produced by submerged arc welding, operated at low temperatures. After the defect is detected, the defective area is sampled mechanically and welded using manual arc welding or mechanized argon-arc welding with a consumable electrode. Heat input is controlled during manual arc welding with deviation of heat input ±35% of nominal value 8.4 kJ/cm, and at mechanized argon-arc welding with consumable electrode – with deviation of heat input ±35% of nominal value 12.0 kJ/cm.
EFFECT: compliance with ASME B31.3 requirements when testing repair weld of electric-welded pipes of specified diameter and thickness for impact bending at temperature of minus 196 °C while maintaining resistance to intercrystalline corrosion.
