FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurements on electrified railways for the precise determination of a short-circuit (SC) location in an AC traction network (TN). Essence: the search is performed by the repair team while driving along the damaged section of the AC of TN by measuring the current flowing in the SC section. When the relay protection is activated and the automatic reclosing is unsuccessful or TN prohibited, the damaged vehicle remains disconnected and grounded at the SC point. By operative switching or suspending of the grounding rod, the TN is grounded on one side of the SC site. In this way a closed loop "Earthing – TN – SC – Rail – Earthing" is formed. In a closed loop, the current is induced by the magnetic component of the electromagnetic influences of the currents, flowing in the TN of the adjacent path and the lines "two wires – rail". Repair team, moving along the TN of the disconnected section, records the presence of current in the vehicle. Since TN on the opposite side of the SC location is not grounded and there is no closed circuit for current flow, then after the survey of the SC location, the detected current in the TN changes abruptly and becomes negligibly small, that indicates the detection of the SC location.
EFFECT: technical result: increasing the accuracy of determining the SC location in the AC of TN.
