SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to the area of detection of a traffic light. Detection of the traffic light is carried out by the method of the traffic light detection device, which includes a narrow-angle camera, a wide-angle camera and a traffic light detection unit. Traffic light detection unit detects a traffic light from at least images captured by a narrow-angle camera and a wide-angle camera. Traffic light detection unit 4 selects, as a detection result, any of the traffic lights detected on the narrow-angle image and the traffic light detected on the wide-angle image based on the deceleration start region. Deceleration start area is calculated from the position of the traffic light relative to the vehicle and the speed of the vehicle, in order to stop the vehicle in the stop position with respect to the traffic light.
EFFECT: reduced deceleration time of the vehicle ahead of the traffic light.
