SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel composition of a confectionery or pharmaceutical product. Proposed is a chewing gum composition that contains 30 to 70 % by weight of a filler other than maltitol having a specific surface area as determined by the BET method that is less than 0.5 m2/g, preferably from 0.2 m2/g to 0.45 m2/g, wherein said specific surface area is measured using a fraction of 250 mcm to 841 mcm; a porosity of less than 0.0085 ml/g, preferably less than 0.0080 ml/g, and even more preferably less than 0.0070 ml/g; wherein the percentages are expressed by weight relative to the total weight of the chewing gum composition used, and the filler is sorbitol, preferably having a purity of more than 95 % by weight of the dry matter of the sorbitol.
EFFECT: invention provides a reduction in the amount of the gum base, without adversely affecting the organoleptic properties as compared to the products of the prior generation.
