FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a catalyst, a process for its preparation and use, and a method for recovering sulfur using this catalyst. Catalyst comprises titanium dioxide as a carrier, lutetium oxide and/or cerium oxide and calcium oxide, at the same time, starting from 100 wt. % of the catalyst, the content of titanium dioxide is 80–96 % by wt. %, the content of calcium oxide is 2–10 wt. % and the content of lutetium oxide and/or cerium oxide is 2–10 wt. %. Catalyst of the present invention contains lutetium oxide and/or cerium oxide as active ingredients, titanium dioxide as a carrier and calcium oxide as an alkalinity regulator, at a certain ratio for joint action; when the catalyst is used in the sulfur recovery process, it has improved stability of activity, improved activity in the hydrolysis of organosulfur compounds and activity in the Claus reaction, while the activity in the hydrolysis of organosulfur compounds is ≥ 99 % and the activity in the Claus reaction is ≥ 80 %.
EFFECT: process for preparing the catalyst of the present invention is simple, and the process steps do not lead to secondary emissions.
