FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of plasma chemical-heat treatment of steel. Sample is placed in a vacuum chamber, a vacuum is created, and a reactive gas in the form of a mixture of hydrogen and nitrogen is injected into the chamber. Nitriding of the surface of the product in the plasma of the induction high-frequency discharge at a pressure of 0.01–1.0 Pa and a negative bias voltage on the product 100–1000 V and sample temperature of 400–600 °C for 0.5–10.0 hours is carried out. Then TiN is coated under vacuum in a mixture of Ar and N2 at a pressure of 0.01–1.0 Pa by pulsed magnetron sputtering of a target-cathode with simultaneous operation of an induction high-frequency discharge by means of a gas discharge plasma generator. Then, Ar is supplied to a vacuum chamber to a pressure not higher than 130 Pa and the sample is cooled to room temperature in Ar atmosphere.
EFFECT: result is the formation of a transition layer with a thickness of up to 300 mcm with a gradually increasing hardness between the material of the product and the subsequent superhard coating of titanium nitride with good adhesion of the coating to the steel surface.
