METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR INCREASING OXYGEN CONCENTRATIONS FOR OPHTHALMOLOGICAL DEVICES Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61F9/00 G02C7/04

Abstract RU 2671072 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine. Contact lens comprises: hydrogel skirt, wherein the hydrogel skirt is molded in the form of a contact lens and comprises an arcuate back surface located near the cornea of the wearer during use of the contact lens; sealed, rigid lens element in which the sealed rigid lens element is gas-tight and impermeable to flow through its housing, the hermetically sealed rigid element of the lens is sealed in the skirt of the hydrogel; first region of the hydrogel skirt, wherein the first region of the hydrogel skirt is that part of the hydrogel skirt that is between the surface of the sealed rigid lens element and the cornea of the user during use of contact lens; and agent in the contact lens for increasing the levels of oxygen in the fluid in contact with the first region. Agent in the contact lens for increasing oxygen levels comprises a layer of absorbent material. Absorbent material absorbs oxygen and contains hemoglobin or hemocyanin. Method of increasing oxygen levels on a user's cornea, when a user wears a contact lens, contains the following steps: pore is formed through the sealed rigid element of the contact lens; pore is filled with a silicone-containing polymer and a contact lens is obtained comprising a sealed, rigid lens element, and during use of the contact lens, oxygen diffuses through the pores with the silicone-containing polymer into the region of the tear fluid under the contact lens.

EFFECT: application of this group of inventions will increase the transfer of oxygen into the region close to the surface of the eye.
