FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for removing sulfur dioxide from gaseous effluent, wherein a mixture of gaseous outlet gasses or gaseous effluent includes sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide, and wherein, to perform a catalytic reduction, a catalyst is used to catalyse a reaction between carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide to produce carbon dioxide and sulphur.
EFFECT: invention provides a higher activity of the proposed catalyst in the reaction between carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide to produce carbon dioxide and sulfur to remove sulfur dioxide from the off-gas.
