FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices used for the materials processing by cutting, and can be used for narrow grooves milling in articles from hard-to-machine materials, including titanium and its alloys. Milling cutter includes body with sockets and a set of cutting plates having different angular cutting edges radius curvatures and thicknesses. Each cutting plate contains upper working and lower base surfaces, between which a central hole is made and side surfaces with side base surfaces are located, main cutting edges, formed at the side surfaces intersection, the auxiliary cutting edges, formed at the upper working surface with the side surfaces intersection, and the corner cutting edges with the curvature radius from 0.5 to 4 mm. At that, the cutting plates with one radius of curvature of the corner cutting edges are installed in the sockets on one and the other side of the body with possibility of their replacing with plates with a different radius of curvature of the corner cutting edges, due to the fact, that thickness of the cutting plates, which provides the milled groove width, is determined from the given mathematical expression.
EFFECT: increase in the disk mills technological capabilities during the materials processing.
